After doing so you only need to complete the first quest they give you (Shadow of Steel) before they grant you Knight status and provide you with Vertibird Signal Grenades.
To unlock support you’ll need to join the Brotherhood of Steel.
The ability to rain hell upon unsuspecting Raiders and Super Mutants as you’re transported is invaluable. This is especially usefull if you’re overburdened and need to get back home without dropping anything. Support will allow you to call one to pick you up and take you where you need to go. Vertibirds are those cool machine gun carrying aircraft that you’ll see buzzing over your head near the docks and the Boston commons. One of these abilities is Vertibird support. Each of these factions can provide you with an extra ability that will really help players out when duking it out with the evils of the wasteland. Each of these factions provides a new base or two, as well as some unique companions for you to recruit. Fallout 4 has several factions players control, each having their own particular views on society and their own plans for the future of the commonwealth and humanity as a whole.
